Preaching to the choir - Indigenous Fashion Appropriation Panel

I was honoured to be among a roster of talented Indigenous artists who work with Native Women in the Arts worked and
on a national textile art project to tackle the topic of appropriation.

The wrap-up of the  INDIAN GIVER - An Exhibition of Fashion, Textiles & Wearable Art  exhibit revolved around a panel I feel privileged to have been invited to participate. It did not take long to feel like we had a panel of converts agreeing with one another and we were preaching to the choir. This felt like an important start to the conversation and shifting a roomful of attitudes is a humble beginning.

With hope, we can see a future where the fashion industry stops stealing Indigenous art styles and works to advance Indigenous artists to tell their own authentic stories through their works.
